Power marked a major homecoming for The Temptations. After a brief period away from Motown on Atlantic Records, the group returned to Gordy/Motown with Dennis Edwards back in the lineup. The title track also reconnected them directly with Motown founder Berry Gordy, who co-wrote and produced “Power,” giving the album a symbolic full-circle feeling as The Temptations entered a new decade.
